Company and jurisdiction
Who operates enum?
enum GmbH, a German limited company registered in Cologne (HRB 121362, VAT DE451942405), founded on 15 November 2024. enum is a CNCF Silver member, a Linux Foundation member and a RIPE NCC member operating its own autonomous system, AS215998.
Is enum subject to the US CLOUD Act?
No. enum GmbH has no US entity in its structure, so the US CLOUD Act and FISA Section 702 do not apply. Choosing an EU region at a US-headquartered provider does not remove that exposure, because what counts is the jurisdiction of the company that holds the data.
Where is my data stored?
In Frankfurt, Germany. Frankfurt is our production region, and Berlin is available on request. Both run on infrastructure and a network that enum operates itself, inside the EU.
How is enum different from colocation?
Colocation gives you a rack and power, and you run the hardware, network, hypervisor and Kubernetes. enum is a public cloud: we operate the infrastructure, the network, the storage and the Kubernetes control plane, and you use them through the CLI and the API.
Platform
Does enum run upstream Kubernetes or a fork?
Upstream, unmodified Kubernetes. Existing manifests, Helm charts and GitOps pipelines work without changes. Upgrades roll through your cluster by replacing nodes one at a time.
How do I get a Kubernetes cluster?
Sign up yourself with enumctl. Kubernetes clusters are currently set up on request; self-service cluster creation launches in Q4 2026.
Is enum Object Storage S3-compatible?
Yes. It implements the S3 API, so aws-cli, rclone, s3cmd, the AWS SDKs and other S3 tools work without code changes. Data is erasure-coded across failure domains in Frankfurt for 99.9999999% durability.
Is there a Terraform provider?
Not yet. A Terraform provider is on the roadmap. Today you manage enum through enumctl and the public API, with SDKs for Go and TypeScript.
What availability does enum offer?
We offer a 99.9% availability SLA for the Kubernetes control plane API, Object Storage, Block Storage, load balancers and NAT. Contract terms are available from sales.
Compliance
Is enum suitable for NIS2 and DORA workloads?
enum helps with the provider side of both. It is a German company under German and EU law, with data in Frankfurt and no US subprocessors in the data path. That supports NIS2 supply-chain and DORA ICT third-party requirements. Your own obligations under NIS2 and DORA stay with you.
Which certifications does enum have?
The Frankfurt data center is certified to ISO 27001 and EN 50600; those certificates belong to the facility operator. enum's own ISO 27001 certification is in progress, with a target of Q4 2026. BSI C5 is on the roadmap for 2027.
Can FinTech and HealthTech teams run on enum?
Yes. Both need a provider under EU law without US access paths. Talk to us about your requirements; we provide a data processing agreement (DPA) under GDPR.
Migration and alternatives
What is a European alternative to AWS?
It depends on your workload. For teams that want managed Kubernetes and S3-compatible storage from a German company without CLOUD Act exposure, enum is a self-service public cloud with infrastructure in Frankfurt.
Which Kubernetes providers are headquartered in Germany?
Among others: enum (enum GmbH, Cologne, infrastructure in Frankfurt), STACKIT (Schwarz Group), Hetzner and IONOS. enum is independent and runs its own RIPE-registered network, AS215998.
Can I migrate from AWS EKS or Google GKE?
Yes. enum runs upstream Kubernetes, so manifests, Helm charts and GitOps pipelines move over unchanged, and S3 tools work against enum Object Storage as-is. If you want help, our team plans and runs the cutover with you.
Pricing
What does enum cost?
Kubernetes nodes start at €0.06 per hour, with 10 to 20% off for one- to three-year commitments. Object Storage is €0.02 per GB per month, Block Storage €0.10 per GB per month, and outgoing traffic €0.025 per GB. The highly available control plane is included. All prices are in euros and exclude VAT.
Are there request or ingress fees?
No. Object Storage API calls are not billed, and incoming traffic is free. You pay for storage and outgoing traffic.
